WASHINGTON (July 12, 2010) - Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K.
Shinseki announced a critical step forward in providing an easier
process for Veterans seeking health care and disability compensation for
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), with the publication of a final
regulation in the Federal Register.
"This nation has a solemn obligation to the men and women who have
honorably served this country and suffer from the often devastating
emotional wounds of war," said Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K.
Shinseki.

Collaborative Research on "Deep Brain Stimulation"
HOUSTON - Veterans and others with Parkinson's disease who undergo deep brain stimulation (DBS) may benefit from research co-sponsored by the Department of Veterans Affairs and published recentlyin the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine.
"Our study found deep brain stimulation is equally effective at either of two sites in the brain," said Site Investigator Eugene C.

WASHINGTON - As previously announced on January 7, 2010, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) froze prescription copayment increases for six months. Veterans who generally have higherincome and no service-connected disabilities - referred to as Priority Groups 7 and 8 Veterans - will now pay an additional $1 for each 30-day supply of outpatient medications.

VA has recognized certain cancers and other health problems as associated with exposure to Agent Orange and other herbicides or as associated with military service. Veterans suffering from thefollowing conditions may be eligible for disability compensation and health care benefits:
·       Acute and Subacute Peripheral Neuropathy - A nervous system condition that causes numbness, tingling, and motor weakness.
