When my father Normand L Dumais passed away October 7, the Texas Lone Star Chapter members sent condolences and many even showed up for his services and military funeral at the Houston Cemetary. I was proud of him and of the other members of this group that have served their country and show the respect for their fellow brothers in arms. Since my fathers passing, the reality of the way the VA has treated our family, the cold and uncaring way they have treated my mothers spousal pension, which is so minimal it will not even pay the mortgage payment I am without words. His brothers in this chapter have shown great honor and love for a fellow soldier, but what happened to our country showing that same compasion. My father was an injured vet, was always fight the VA and the Government for assistance, and due to a mistake of medication he went from having a blader infection to passing away from a massive heart attack one week after entering the VA Hospital in Houston. If there are other families out there that have had a similar experience, please contact me. I am going to be contacting the congress and senators of this state to help change the laws for our Vets and solders. They need our help and so do their families when the pass on. Please contact me if this has happened to anyone else, or it anyone knows of an organization I can contact to help change how our country treats our brave men who have suffered to preserve our freedom. thank you.
